The ag-Gallery is:
The different gallery
The art gallery
graphic art
ag the chemical symbol for silver
It is Antje and Günter Stapelfeldt
and of a little bit ga, ga.
Because you have to be a little bit ga, ga if want you open a fine little
art gallery in the rooms of an big old farmhouse in Wentorf/hamburg.
In 1997 the advertising and lettering designer ANTJE STAPELFELDT and her husband
GÜNTER STAPELFELDTdiscovered this house. And because both of them had
been dreaming of a place to work as well as a space to exhibit her work, the
decision for this house was not really that difficult.
It all started in the two exhibition and seminar rooms in the back and three
later they were able to use the hole ground floor with a space of approx.
100 m2.
What does ag-Galerie exhibit ?
You do find a continuing exhibition of the latest work of calligraphy and
lettering design of ANTJE STAPELFELDT and also the new pieces of jewellry
of her husband GÜNTER STAPELFELDT.
But there is also to be seen exclusive handycraft of selected craftsmen/-women
(bronce, glass, ceramic etc.).
Through the year we celebrate exhibition
Outside, the big garden offers possibillities to show the work sculpture and
artis who design objekt and installations.
Also we would be delighted if we could interest poets and writers to do readings
and recitations of there latest work.
Where the emphasis lies!
The big emphasis of the ag-Galerie lies in the beautiful script, the calligraphy,
the writing as an indepent image and work of art. Here the ag-Galerie is centre
for the monthly meeting of a small number of fine lettering artists. During
these at this moment evry Monday celebrated meetings, the paticipants do exchange
opinions about there latest calligraphies and inform each other of new and
interesting things happening in calligraphy and lettering design. Furthermore
they also arganize calligraphic courses and exhibitions during the year.
ANTJE STAPELFELDT does give succesfully evening-courses now for various years
to beginners and advanced students and is planning to give courses also for
youngsters and children.
Furthermore do we have regularly international masters of this art as guests
of the ag-Galerie who are trying to transmit their art and knowledge in exclusive
master classes. Sometimes then we are als able to organize an exhition with
work of the masters.
The ag-Galerie wants to be a space and meeting point for everyone who would
like exhibit some part of his self and who wants to comunicate this with others.
In this sense we would like to exhibit the artists with strong interest in
intercultural exchange and thus very conciously be a truly european gallery.
